the catch with spur of the moment things is that they tend to crash on you with the same kind of suddenness that created them.
but you hurt and you hurt just the same. the excitement of entering a risky business will always be in direct proportion to the pain felt during its abrupt and untimely death. and how do you recover? you cling to what you can. literature is the best palliative (for me at least). and, naturally, beer. friends? only if you weren't foolish enough to shut them all out.
oh heartbreak. this is what growing old is all about.

On impulse. Maybe it was the open road, or the lateness of the hour, or the painless way the wind slaps your cheek that everything seemed less dangerous, almost sunny, even though we know that that was all there was to it, really: DANGER.
But my supply of caution has long ago been depleted. And this is making me too happy. I will probably only learn to stop when I get hurt. Till then.
